I've been curling my hair the wrong way my entire life

The real secret though is after you have totally finished curling. Most people instinctively want to run their fingers through or brush to shake the curls out. Wait about 5-7 minutes to let your hair cool. I normally wait about 10 minutes before I run my fingers through it. Now that the hair has cooled, it won’t brush out the curl and you will be left with luscious locked in beachy waves! In all these shots, I didn't even use any sort of hair spray. Even in this humidity, my curls have continued to stay fresh and full. That’s all for now! As always, holler at me for more info! I am always happy to help. I’m going to start doing more beauty tutorials soon. I hope everyone has a fabulous day!

I was literally today years old when I realized I had been curling my hair wrong my entire life. I know it sounds silly, but you wouldn’t believe the difference it makes. And NO, this isn’t me trying to pitch some curling iron on you… because I use a 5-year old Con-air curling iron. It’s all in the technique baby. I really didn't even know I was curling the wrong way until I went and got the beaded extensions put in.

Apparently (and this is probably common knowledge to a lot of people), you curl starting at the base of your head and not the bottom. Now, I consider myself pretty fashion savvy and what not, but this one kind of shook me. The difference it makes! I’ve included some videos to show how I achieve this look. The girl at the salon told me for some reason everyone thinks you start at the bottom of your hair & curl up, but it’s actually the opposite. You start at the root and then pull down. It seems tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a piece of cake.

The trick is to leave about 1/2"-1” of hair out of the curling iron to give you those beachy waves. DISCLAIMER: I forgot to take my Church volunteer name tag off while shooting that video, and halfway through you will see Nick come tell me that our daughter pooped on the couch. LOL
