My midcentury home in TN

I WILL NEVER EVER GET OVER THIS HOUSE

I’m not sure if it’s the fact I’m home now, & all the creative juices are flowing again! I seriously became so work obsessed, I forgot how great I was at interior design. (#humblebrag) I think I missed my calling! Lately, I simply can’t stop thinking about my old house in Greeneville, Tennessee. When we bought it, it was totally abandoned. Of course I cried when I saw it & begged my husband that we had to have it right then. I was terrified someone else was going to swoop in. I think we got the house in the next two days. If you are a TRUE midcentury modern fanatic, you know the deep adrenaline rush you get when you find one of these gems.

The kitchen was my absolute favorite. That white track lighting was already there before, but with the most horrendous kitchen I’ve ever seen. EVERYONE tried to talk me into taking that lighting out & I refused. Nick didn’t understand what I loved so much about them, but they were so dope!

I SAW THEIR POTENTIAL & I WAS RIGHT! ;)

It was literally one of the coolest kitchens ever, and I got the privilege to design it. I think all the contractors were super confused by my vision. HA! I designed the cabinets & used Lowe’s Home Improvement to customize and install the cabinets. I used a local supplier to find a custom slab of granite. I had my heart set on a waterfall countertop and it couldn’t have turned out any more perfect. Don’t get me started on keeping those countertops clean, though.

I found the neatest midcentury modern Italian designed barstools. They were chrome and acrylic and I had to have them when I saw them. They ended up completing the space (DO NOT recommend with kids though. The acrylic and chrome was always covered in handprints). If you look close enough, you can probably see the handprints in these pictures. :)

The dining area extended from the kitchen. At the time these pictures were taken, I had a danish modern leaf table (that was a little wonky, so I changed it out later on to a round table). The floor to ceiling windows were my absolute favorite. There was ALWAYS light in that house; it was kind of hard to be in a bad mood with sunshine always beaming in. Of course, I painted the walls all white because I’m a sucker for white walls so that I can cover it with big, colorful, unique art pieces. You can spot more rap art in the second photo.

I found all these pictures my friend Amber Morrell took & I HAD to share them. There are a ton more, but I don’t want to inundate everyone all at once, so I’ll save them for another post. I will have to dig deep back in this abyss of my 50,000+ iPhone pictures to find the “BEFORE” pictures.
